Sectional Helper

The Scout Group is always looking for help. Whoever you are, everyone has the ability to help us, and we will always welcome you into our family.

Helping out does not always mean you have to take out special training, wear a uniform or be committed to us for life. Parent helpers play a very important role in Scouting, they are often placed on a rota and asked by leaders to help when it will make it safer and more enjoyable for the kids. If you decide that you want to do more in scouting and take up a more responsible role. Please speak to the leader in charge of the section you would like to help with.

Each adult that is in contact with children on a regular basis (more than once a month) must be CRB checked. This involves a police check using the National Police Database. This alerts us if there is a concern regarding the safety of the children (and adults) in Scouting. If you have a criminal background, this does not automatically mean you are unsuitable to help us. CRB checks are in place to protect the children we are in direct contact with and reasure parents that they are in a safe environment.

Parent helpers have many skills which can contribute to the successful running of our Scout Group. For example; A builder can give us unbiased advice and save us money. Someone who has secretarial skills can help a section leader in a adminstration role. We have parents who generate sponsorship purely as a result from their employment.

If you wish to help and would like to know more, please contact our Group Scout Leader, Ken Stanger on 01992 712923 or e-mail him at kenstanger@yahoo.co.uk
